Our consciousness has awakened, and we have joined the wave of collective consciousness now spreading light and hope to every corner of the world. From Tunisia to Tahrir Square, Madrid to Rejkavik, New York to Brussels, people are rising up. In the Arab Spring, in the dignity of Iceland, in the dignified rage of 15M and Occupy Wall Street. Together we have denounced the status quo. Our effort states clearly ‘enough!’, and has even begun to push changes forward, worldwide. This is why we, women and men, inhabitants of this planet, are uniting once again to make our voices heard this May 12th. All over the world. We denounce the current condition of our planet, and urge the application of different policies, designed to encourage and promote the common good. WE WON’T PAY!” The 15M citizens’ assemblies in different cities in Spain, along with other networks and social organizations, have built a platform for a Citizen Debt Audit to determine its illegitimacy. It began a process led by the people to address the debt problem, denouncing those responsible for it and demanding the non-payment of an illegitimate debt. In Spain, as in other countries in the European periphery, we are witnessing a Debt Crisis used to justify the social cuts and austerity policies which are destroying social and labor rights won with the effort and struggle of past generations. Citizens are seeing their retirement age delayed, their living conditions made precarious, their pensions freeze and their labor rights disappear. There is more than enough evidence of illegitimacy in the Spanish Government’s debt, as, together with the EU and regional governments, they are using it as the reason to go ahead with bleeding austerity policies. This is why we have the right to know, to understand the details of the process that led us to this [...]

Occupy Cleveland has affirmed the principles of non-violence since its inception on October 6, 2011. Occupy Cleveland has spoken out and worked against violence in all its forms, including: Wars and occupations Economic violence of financial inequality, unemployment, debt and foreclosure Social violence of racism, sexism and homophobia Environmental violence of global warming and fracking Occupy Cleveland believes the only way to respond to a violent federal and corporate state is through active non-violence. A world where we are told ‘there is no alternative’ to the loss of rights achieved through the long, hard struggles of our ancestors. We find ourselves in a world where success is defined in seeming opposition to the most fundamental values of humanity, such as solidarity and mutual support. Moreover, anything that does not promote competitiveness, selfishness and greed is seen as dysfunctional. This immoral ideology is reinforced by the monopoly of the mainstream media, the instrument that manufactures false consensus around this unfair and unsustainable system. But we have not remained silent! This is why we, women and men, inhabitants of this [...]

Call started debriefing MayDay. Discussion focused on the importance of the date, a show of force, and the challenges moving forward. How to bring a new ideology to occupy? how to move forward recruiting more folks, swelling our ranks, without watering down our movement? Bridging strategies, the obsession with “re-occupation” that at this point seems sterile, and other contextual issues were discussed. Then we moved to the windows of (memetic) opportunity available for us right now. A strong meme that will start coming in the picture in late Spring/Summer, despite the omnipresent US Elections, is the 2012 London Olympics. The event, which is organized by a centralized committiee and spouses the ideology of cutthroat competition and strife between nation-states, is a perfect one to ride the wave around and subvert. The question then was, “why don’t we have our own Games, the People’s Games, the Games of the 99%, where individuals #playtogether and put forth their deeds/messages for a better world? Yes, another world is possible and yes, another Olympics is possible: RevOlympics! Our mission at InterOccupy is threefold: communication, coordination, and activation. The conference calls leading up to May Day were contentious at points. These disagreements illustrated that InterOccupy opened up a communication space where people felt comfortable expressing a range of contradictory ideas. Additionally, this dialogue allowed us to share thoughts that aided in harmonizing and solidifying our message of disagreement with a system that does not represent us. Most importantly, we were able to discuss methods of outreach as well as plans for action and then implement them in our own cities. Your participation and passion continue to inspire us as we continue to help coordinate future actions both locally and nationally. The events began on Wednesday, April 25, in the Park Blocks around 5:30 p.m. during the Occupy The Trees event. The 6-day event included a children’s march and a scavenger hunt for nature items, and featured speeches from children about the environment. Children were playing in the Park Blocks bushes when police, instead of explaining to the children why their play was prohibited, began an interaction with the children’s parents that resulted in a heated scene. Some children began to cry. Afterward, another officer attempted to interact with one of the children by offering the child a police sticker. The child’s mother asked the police officer not to give her child the sticker. The officer persisted and when her child reached for the sticker, the mother swatted her child’s hand, which was close to the police officer’s, and he immediately called out assault.
Media

Dear Occupiers, We at The Civilians create work based upon interviews taken from real people who find themselves in a particular political or social circumstance of controversy or interest. Over the past several months we’ve been interviewing people involved in the Occupy Wall Street movement. With these interviews we’ve held two cabaret-type performances in Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater in NYC. Now we are getting everyone involved! Working with the spirit of the Occupy movement we have come to envision a theater project that reflects the quality of energy of the movement itself. That vision has manifested into a grassroots theater project called Occupy Your Mind. The Civilians invites artists of all types (even artists still in the artistic closet!) to engage in the work that we do regularly; to interview Occupiers near you and ultimately to share a video of your Occupy performance with the world, online. All the performances on the website will be part of the creative commons, which allows groups across the country/world to have access to these performances and make an Occupy Your Mind evening of performance or find another way to use the material. PLEASE SAVE ALL OF YOUR CREDIT CARD AND BANK JUNK MAIL OFFERS AND ASK YOUR FRIENDS TO DO THE SAME! BACKGROUND: The US Post Office, created in 1792 and authorized by the US Constitution, is slated in Spring 2012 to cut 28,000 jobs, drop overnight delivery of first class mail, shut down 252 of 461 mail processing centers and close 3700 local post offices across the country. Contrary to the corporate noise machine, the US Post Office has never been mandated to show a profit. It is a government service to the citizens of the United States. With these proposed cuts in postal service the oligarchs will ratchet up the noise to abolish the Post Office and its unionized work force. You can look forward to the privatization of mail services because the “old” Post Office couldn’t compete with private package delivery services. ACTION: As red-blooded Americans it is time we all help out the Post Office. Here is how you can help and to strike back at the banksters, credit card companies and credit/debt slavery and cost the banks some money at the same time…. This short book carries the discussion one step further reviewing the American system as it pertains to your health and well-being. Simple diagrams help you to map where you are and where you very likely want to be. Documented with helpful links throughout. Like, what happens inside the human body after consuming a single fast food hamburger? And what is the relationship between illness and modern farming/ranching methods? With rapid appreciation for the benefits of organic growing methods comes general confusion about what it all means. Not any more! Within just fifteen minutes of reviewing these diagrams, better clarity is the likely outcome. As the author, I have contributed to the OCCUPY discussion by creating this free resource. Any suggestions you have for calling attention further to these issues are welcomed and appreciated. Initial feedback: “This is soooo awesome! So well laid out and brilliantly designed! After May 12, 2012 a 24/7 occupation will begin to bring attention to the law Merced City Council is planning on repealing on May 21, 2012 called “Just Cause for Eviction”. The Realtors Association of Merced is putting pressure on the council to repeal it and Occupy Merced is working with the state-wide organization Tenants Together to prevent this. We have the support of three council members but want to put the pressure on the council with media attention. I need to add, at this point, THE ORDINANCE ENFORCEMENT FOR THIS IS NOT COSTING THE CITY OF MERCED “ONE DIME”. There is no cost. Background: With the foreclosure crisis going on, people are losing their homes every day. We, Occupy Merced, have taken up this cause on behalf of the renters in these homes. Renters are given very little notice to “move out” of the foreclosed house, often being harassed by the bank owning the property. ALEC functions as the most influential mechanism by which corporations maintain their dominance over people and policy by occupying our political institutions. Model legislation proposed by ALEC and enacted by our elected representatives have destroyed workers rights and strangled free speech. As they approached my car and recognized me they said, “hey we know you, you’re that murderer.” I asked [...]
