The potential value of inter-occupy calls:
- to build trust between people across the city
- to take the middleman out of OWS
- to promote horizontal communication
- to help newcomers get connected and help people who are not yet involved learn about what is happening
- to share information/announcements
- to coordinate actions/events
- to allow people to communicate who cannot travel for meetings
- to allow breakout groups to discuss specific initiatives/projects
Ideas about how to get more people to use the calls so that they will be productive:
- pass out flyers at GAs and meetings (Jack Rabbit will bottom-line this)
- announce at GAs
Open Forum:
- Sumumba explained his proposal to create a 5-borough GA OWS working group that would meet once a month
- He expressed interest the communication model that Inter-Occupy has seen work well nationally and will consider that as a possible model for NYC
- Grace plugged the Citywide Assembly (for April 14) Planning Meetings, typically on Friday nights, bi-monthly, Judson Memorial, 6:30pm
Proposals condensed upon by the group:
- Next call will be Monday, 8pm, March 5.
- These calls will NOT be limited to one person from each GA, but will remain open to all in the hope that many people will use the calls
