Spread the Word!! April 23 – 25: Occupy The Surface Warfare Summit – Norfolk, Virginia alongside Occupy Norfolk. Flier is below. Facebook Event: http://www.facebook.com/events/405392556141702/?ref=ts
Proposed Agenda: Discussion of Foreclosure Fraud Actions, The Need to facilitate meetings, and Direct action via communication. Check-in re. Direct Actions (20min)
Discuss Purpose of Weekly Call (25min)
Discuss Structure of Weekly Call (15min)
Close NOTES: Direct Actions: Santa Rosa: The County recorders office in Santa Rosa, CA was a good event with the MERS #s, and the Press Democrat (newspaper) wrote a good article on the event. We went to the D.A.’s office to submit forms and spoke to investigators and to the D.A. Press Democrat was very supportive. L.A. Action: Spoke to home owners, and went over documents. Did a dramatization to illustrate the fraud. Not much media there and about 20 participants. Oakland: 3 people attending. Spoke to the recorders office representative and KPSA interviewed those attending. Ukiah: 7 members attended - Recorder was very cooperative, found strong evidence of error in the reports and got coverage in the journal as well. Tim: Rec’d articles and reports on a great event. The county recorder was very supportive and good turn out overall. the D.A. in Orraville says he is investigating the Foreclosure fraud there. 12 counties involved. ACCE wants to work on a common ground strategy. The govt is trying to sweep this all under the rug. Candace from Santa Barbara: had a good turn out - 25 people at the recorders office. The recorder was not available or would not come out. Took the petition to the sheriff’s office. Planning a strategy and spoke to the media - got some coverage. Margaret: 50 people at the event in Santa Barbara, picketed the county recorders office and had a good overall event. Good first attempt. Lisa: Turned the county recorders office in Sacramento into a crime scene - calling it “A warehouse of stolen property” - had crime scene tape with mini homes and wanted signs. Had some home owners speak and helped a few homeowners get their info. Will prep more to go to the D.A. Got media coverage on CBS and will forward the post. Carolyn: (From Missouri) This was very helpful - assisted us so much - glad to see it becoming nationwide. Wants a forum for questions to be asked and asked “Does the recorder have to do the audit?” 11:32 The purpose of the weekly call Dean: (Salem, Oregon) - “What direction are we going in?” Should we organize an Oregon call or keep it West Coast or National. Focus is now starting to shift to actions on the foreclosure issues. Vote taken re: the purpose of the expansion to come later in the call regionally Frank: We need a national call forum and more intrastate calls as well. If we expand it too much we may lose our CA focus, and concerns of it becoming a national call we lose our focus re CA laws that differ, etc.. RECAP:We could have it be broken to 2 calls - the western states and the eastern states? Cheryl: It’s micro level as possible to keep our focus. Every Wed. night @ 6 pm calls are available thru Occupy calls if anyone wants in on those meetings. “Occupy the Land” or “Take Back the Land” calls dedicated to local actions and issues for people, and others are updating their actions - let’s keep it west coast and even more local. We can tell and learn from what we’re doing - focus from the house outward, network and support locally. Shelly: We’re having some impact and whykeep it micro when it can help so many nationally we move on the work and that’s appreciated. What is the next action? Michelle: Occupy L.A. wants to stay local and narrow for now - so many outreaches and a national conference call already going on. We need to stick together in Calif. for now & stay focused....
