Group preferred 2pm.
Abe announced OccuBay TV in the Bay area, SF, Oakland and Santa Rosa
Ananda doing weekly live show on MNN, first show this Thursday. The show needs content, please send footage each week to be used in different segments, videos of events that have happened along with guests, and announcements for events for coming week so everyone who has footage is encouraged to send it in.
Abe mentioned it would be helpful to establish a workflow for live show in this call.
Starlene offered to give MSM report
David Stam suggested we need a sort of bridge for what has happened in the past week, in all the cities, we don’t always have national actions, some of it is localized, so if we had a process – a list where people could put things that have happened in other cities.
Wendy announced Austin has press releases available.
Steve announced we are trying to use the documents online for these calls.
David Stam proposed we have a press release on a word doc for all the events that have happened in the past week, in a folder somewhere we can access for all the press releases
with contact info for everybody so we can interview them for MNN.
Ananda not sure how to get the material, but can talk about what kind of material would be useful.
Since the show is live on Thursdays, if occupations everywhere can put together a list of stories with video clips by weds each week, then the show can feature them the show each week.
The stories may change depending on the decisions of the crew, and what they feel they need for the show. If one occupy has a particular story they’ve covered, they should submit it and the live show crew can edit and make changes.
Ananda gave his email to contact him with questions about submitting content to the show –
Abe brought up Studio Occupy and is constant communication with the people who created and are running it, and he can ask if they can tailor it to the needs of the show, that way people can go into studio occupy and put in key words to the search and see all the stories for that week
it doesn’t get compressed, so we can use studio occupy as a file sharing network
backup option, we can use “minus.com” – you get 10GB free, so you can upload your video, and send the link to the editors in nyc, and they can download it and edit if needed
Also, Abe suggested the submissions should be in by Tuesday night.
David, re Ananda’s show – we could use an extra team for this Thursday’s show, particularly for the foreclosure action. If anyone can put togther a piece from anywhere in the country and get it to them by tomorrow, that would be great.
Sue announced to this call that there will be a media action to occupy Clear Channel on Mon Dec 12, would like to send out something to everyone to read. they are going to do it in Sacramento, but are asking everyone across the country to walk into Clear Channel and ask to see their public files, it is our right, let clear channel know that we know that we own the public airways and we have the right to see the files.
Shawn asked for where people can go to find the notes for these calls
Steve answered – go to interoccupy, org, look at the conference calls tab, and look under minutes
next agenda item – having an online folder for press releases from all the occupations to put their press releases and contact info for point people so the live show each week.
Wendy suggested a google folder and volunteered to do it.
Starlene gave MSM subgroup report: the online toolkit is almost ready, will be up in the next day, talked about what it contains, including sample press releases, how-to’s and guides for press relations, interview tips and how to do a video news release. It will be on google docs for everyone to use.
Agenda completed, Sara asked if there’s any reports or announcements.
Shawn asked if anyone is doing a paper newspaper and how are they doing it.
David Stam answered that there are two in New York, there is an Occupy Wall Street Journal with 3 or 4 editions so far, including one in spanish and one in english. It’s really popular, people really respond to it, like having something to hold onto.
Wendy said they don’t have an actual newspaper but they have a one-sheet, two-sided, not articles but a list of things going on, bullet points
David said the actual paper is great for marches, something to hand out
David suggested the live show use Skype for live interviews.
We put out a call for facilitators for next call, no response. Steve got on and urged everyone to put their paddles in the water so the tasks don’t fall on too few people.
Michele Johnsen is in LA and announced that she has PR experience and asked how she can get involved and help.
Sara pointed her to the interoccupy.org site for more info
David told her she can help write segments for the show.
Mark said thanks to Steve and Sara for facilitating, thinks the new time will increase numbers on the call, suggests we send an email blast for folks asking for more involvement.
Steve suggested Mark facilitate next week, Mark agreed to do it
Steve suggested Michele Johnson go ahead and do it the week after; said she’d do it on the 20th.
Wendy Darling volunteered to do it on Dec 27th
David gave out his email
davidcameracraft@gmail.com
Thanks everybody!
