12 January 2012, Tulsa, OK – Occupy Tulsa announced today that the group will be holding a rally on Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 16th, at 3pm at the Greenwood Cultural Center. The theme of the rally is “Protecting the Dream”, focusing on how social and economic inequality threatens Dr. King`s dream of a free and equal society. The rally will also initiate a fundraising drive by Occupy Tulsa to prevent the possible closure of the Greenwood Cultural Center. Featured speakers include local poet and author Shirley Hall, social justice advocate Twan Jones, as well as other members of the community. There will be musical entertainment as well, including Sango Spirit Drum Ensemble, also local artist Mochroi and The Glorious Peoples Five Year Plan.
