OCCUPY DC FACING EVICTION
Friday, January 27 – Federal park authorities in the nation’s capital told Occupy protesters at two sites on Friday that they will begin enforcing park rules that prohibit camping — a move seen by the activists as a “slow creep” aimed at whittling down their demonstration in Washington, DC. The National Park Service said in a flier that starting Monday at noon it will begin to enforce regulations prohibiting camping and the use of temporary structures for camping. Individual violators may be subject to arrest and their property subject to seizure as evidence, the flier said. Read more at http://on.msnbc.com/zCXnuu.
FORECLOSURES
One hundred Brooklyn community members and Occupiers peacefully disrupt foreclosure auction
1/26/2012 — Thursday afternoon approximately one hundred people peacefully and powerfully disrupted a foreclosure auction by bursting into song. At 3pm the foreclosure auctioneer attempted to start bidding on homes that had been foreclosed upon. When the bidding started, the courtroom burst into song:
“Mr. Auctioneer
All the people here
Are asking you to stop all the sales right now
We’re going to survive, but we don’t know how”
The National Lawyers Guild estimated that approximately 35 people were arrested. Those arrested continued to sing as they were handcuffed and escorted out of the courtroom. In advance of the proceedings, Occupied Real Estate agents distributed brochures that profiled the properties up for auction with photos of protesters out front.
“If speculators want to bid on these listings they should know that they come with eviction defense activists from Occupy Wall Street,” said Danielle Moeser of Occupied Real Estate, a “realty agency” that lists properties available for occupation or in need of eviction defense.
Thursday’s action is part of a growing national movement committed to stopping foreclosures and keeping all Americans in their homes. Last month over 50 actions were carried out across the country, including foreclosure disruptions, eviction defense actions, and home reoccupations. Occupy Wall Street participants and other occupations across the country have been highly involved in these actions.
“We bailed out the big banks, and then they went on to foreclose on millions of families. That’s just heartless,” said Michael Premo, an organizer with Organizing for Occupation and Occupy Wall Street. “We’re committed to keeping homes occupied by people who need homes.”

Call to Action: Occupy Canton Fighting Church Foreclosure, Feb 1&2
Wednesday, February 1 2012 from 6-9 PM – Occupy Canton asks for support to help stave off the foreclosure of Deliverance Christian Church in Canton. Thursday, February 2 2012 will be a day of protest to picket First Merit Bank and their unethical actions against Deliverance Christian Church. First Merit Bank is attempting to subvert the Chapter 11 filing that protects Deliverance Christian Church (DCC) from foreclosure proceedings initiated by the bank. Citing a drop in numbers of congregants, DCC filed for bankruptcy to restructure their business plan that would enable the Canton church to better meet their fiduciary responsibilities. With plans in place, First Merit is trying to compel DCC out of bankruptcy to commence foreclose proceedings before their restructured business plan can take effect. Shortly after DCC filed for bankruptcy, First Merit Bank launched an intimidation campaign that included the freezing of tithes, offerings and, rental money, which made it impossible for the church to pay its staff. If left unimpeded, DCC would likely be able to emerge out of bankruptcy by early Summer 2012.
FIGHTING ALEC
The Eldorado Incident: Occupy vs ALEC
The protest of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) dinner at the Eldorado apparently turned violent last night after a small group of Occupy Santa Fe protesters went inside the hotel and disrupted the dinner. According to several legislators who were there, a female guest of Rep. Bill Rehm, R-Albuquerque, was struck in the eye by a piece of cardboard — actually a satirical dinner menu and program created by the protesters. According to legislators, her cornea was scratched. National Day of Action: Shut Down the Corporations
Occupy Portland has Occupy Portland has called for a national day of non-violent direct action to challenge society’s obsession with profit and greed by shutting down the corporations. So 25 Occupations across the country have signed on to hold some type of direct action in solidarity with this call to Shut Down the Corporations. The action targets corporations that are part of the American Legislative Exchange Council which is composed of the biggest corporations in America, like ExxonMobil, Bank of America, BP, Monsanto, Pfizer, and Wal-Mart. They use ALEC to buy off legislators and craft legislation that serves only the interests of corporations and not people. The National Day of Action will take place on February 29, 2012.
NDAA INDEFINITE DETENTION
Petition to Supreme Court of Alaska to Block NDAA Indefinite Detention Provides Model for All States
January 27, 2012 – While the mainstream media blackout keeps millions of Americans clueless about the consequences of NDAA 2012 and Constitutional Rights groups do little more than milk the issue, in Alaska one bold patriot is taking action. Activist M. Riezinger-von Reitz and other unnamed Petitioners filed a petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus with the Supreme Court of the State of Alaska on December 20. She started the petition in response to the “indefinite detention without trial of American citizens” provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA 2012) http://alaskapatriotnews.ning.com/profile/AnnavonReitz. The petition cites 16 specific grounds and calls upon the Court to issue the protective preemptive Writ and to refer over twenty named criminal charges including Seditious Conspiracy against the members of Congress who voted in favor of the USA Patriot Act and NDAA 2012. Ground 16 of the Petition exposes a long and well-documented history of federal government fraud and notes that America has been kept in a constant “state of emergency” for almost 80 years. Von Reiz now calls for at least 49 more patriots to step up and file similar petitions for Hawaii and the Lower 48 states. She researched, drafted and filed her petition without the assistance of a lawyer, and encourages attorneys as well as other concerned citizens across America [especially the Occupy Movement ] to build on her work and follow her lead. To facilitate that action, she has provided this fill-in-the-blank template for use as a model: http://tinyurl.com/6ntbtjv. Americans willing to take action to defeat NDAA 2012 and restore their Bill of Rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution that have questions about the petition preparation and filing process can submit them to Anna von Reitz via email to VVV Public Relations at ““. They can also join the nationwide NDAA protests scheduled for Friday, 3 February: http://tinyurl.com/ndaa-protests.
OWS BUS TOUR
Occupy Wall Street-NYC Builds Momentum for Spring Resurgence: Launches 5-Week Bus Trip and will arrive in Boston today
Early Wednesday morning, nearly two dozen occupiers boarded a 24 seat conversion bus in Brooklyn. For the next five weeks, members of Occupy Wall Street (OWS) from New York City will be touring the Northeast to connect with other occupations. “Interoccupy communications and face to face community building is a key step in growing solidarity in a global movement,” says Austin Guest, member of the OWS Direct Action group. At each stop along the trip, occupiers will share skills and knowledge with each other. By building relationships between occupations, occupiers are setting the stage for nationally coordinated actions. http://tinyurl.com/6me9k85
OCCUPY THE G8 SUMMIT
Adbusters Issues New Call to Action: Occupy Chicago for G8/NATO Summit
On May 1, 50,000 people from all over the world will flock to Chicago, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and #OCCUPYCHICAGO for a month. With a bit of luck, we’ll pull off the biggest multinational occupation of a summit meeting the world has ever seen. “And when the G8 and NATO meet behind closed doors on May 19, we’ll be ready with our demands: a Robin Hood Tax … a ban on high frequency ‘flash’ trading … a binding climate change accord … a three strikes and you’re out law for corporate criminals … an all out initiative for a nuclear-free Middle East … whatever we decide in our general assemblies and in our global internet brainstorm – we the people will set the agenda for the next few years and demand our leaders carry it out.”
DECLARATION OF OCCUPATION
Occupy Fort Lauderdale lists grievances against the government.
January 27, 2011 — The General Assembly of Occupy Fort Lauderdale announced approval of its Declaration of Occupation at its January 22nd meeting. The Declaration lists grievances against the government of the United States upon the 99% of its population that are not wealthy and powerful. It states the “government helps corporations and the rich to accelerate an unconscionable inequality of wealth, helps a Military Industrial Congressional Complex to wage war upon the world for economic gain, to profit upon the despoiling of the planet which threatens the welfare of the species, and suppresses the civil liberties of all but the richest, by perverting the justice system so as to favor wealth and power, rather than truth and what is right.” It is a call for “accountability” and discussion amongst everyone to peaceably assemble to discuss these problems and together create a process to create workable solutions to solve them.
A spokesperson for the Mission Statement Working Group of the leaderless Occupy movement said “This document grew from the Declarations of Occupation of New York City and Washington D.C. We have added to that the thinking of some of the most fundamental statements of freedom and human rights our society has generated: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was ratified by the United States, the Declaration of the Rights of Man, and the Declaration of Independence. This movement is patriotic and American in nature. It reaffirms our belief in the truths we built this nation upon, but which our political system has sold to corporations and the wealthy. This document is a call to reclaim those truths.” To read the full text, go to: http://occupyfortlauderdale.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Declaration-of-the-Occupation-of-Fort-Lauderdale-2012-01-22.pdf
