InterOccupy’s Weekly Monday Night General Call
Our General Call is every Monday night and is open to everyone. We use the Maestro conference call technology that allows up to 500 people to interact productively on phones. Maestro allows for smaller group breakout sessions so occupiers with shared interests can connect in the middle of a large call.
After some featured Occupy Movement announcements call participants are invited to share information, ask for support, or make other requests.
The second half of the call participants identify priority topics of interest and talk with others on one of those subjects in small group breakouts.
At the end of the call participants can stay on longer for informal conversations.

There isn’t enough time to hear detailed announcements from everyone on the call so InterOccupy provides everyone the opportunity to publish their announcements on this shared google document. A link is provided so everyone can take a look before, during and after the call.

I think this (WE) are a wonderful movement — but we seem to be moving in all kinds of different directions. I would like to see us spend time on clarifying our common purpose and vision (of what life will be like when we are successful in serving our purpose). If we had that clarity, then all of our goals, objectives and action plans we be coherent (they would hang together). [Bill Gellermann, ]

Then, at 8PM Eastern, 5PM Pacific, Heinberg will be discussing live with Occupiers, via webcam and chat, about what it means to be living in a growth-based economy on a finite planet. If it is not sustainable to grow forever, then what sort of demands should Occupy be making of the system? Do we need fixes, or a complete rethinking of our economy? Do we search for economic justice now, or prepare for an entirely new game?

Any chance we could get this call moved to an earlier time? I find it difficult to stay on so late on the east coast!
